Exercise 2.1 Zoom – 2nd May 2020
This is proving a difficult exercise so far. I went out with the camera to see if I could create a series of zoomed pictures, but I wasn’t happy with the outcome. Firstly, I’m struggling with technical knowledge and ability with the camera – what is aperture priority mode?
| Aperture & Depth of Field made EASY – Photography Course 5/10 Chris Bray Photography https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EdxKl5np9KE | A quick look on the internet enlightened me on aperture and depth of field. I went through my new camera’s manual and just about worked out how to use the settings. The f stops went from 5.4 up to 22. |
I’m also being dogged by the lockdown problem of living amongst field after bloody field! Finding a scene that has depth and where I’m not being looked at suspiciously for perhaps doing something that might not be classed as essential is a bit of a challenge.
Using the specific focal lengths on the lens barrel I took a series of photographs using lines of apple trees and a large tree at the end to create some depth.
The change in perspective wasn’t very dynamic. Perhaps one of the reasons this didn’t work so well was that I started too far back and therefore could get close enough in for the final picture. The focal point wasn’t definitive enough to be interesting.
